Surface Mining and Technologies (SM&T) has an exciting opportunity available as an Engineering Manager based in Batam, Indonesia.

When you Join Team Caterpillar as an Engineer Manager, you will start with technical contribution followed by coaching, guiding and facilitating the development of a work group to develop collaborative relationships among the group, as well as with customers, suppliers and other functional groups to ensure goals are achieved. You will continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, mentor and coach your immediate work group and deepen your professional network.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Ensure Design intent is effectively carried out on manufactured machines/Components

Factory support on production Quality issues/Deviations, Continuous Improvement & Built in Quality initiatives (BIQ), to propose potential solutions and drive necessary design changes as per the solution

Provide on-site support for CPDD (Concurrent Product and Process Development) at Batam facility including ensuring Engineering changes implemented into factory/planning effectivity and coordinating bundle inputs/controlling & dependent changes

Support to address customer issues raised from field to identify root cause and drive corrective actions at factory

Initiate and drive design changes as per factory capability- Design for Manufacturability & Assembly

Maintenance: fit-up coordinator -Trial fit up of new design ideas

NPI (New Product Introduction) build coordinator involved from technical support to set up the process until all the build issues are addressed

Provide technical support to sales/customer, supplier and internal teams

Support Global purchasing team in development of regional suppliers

Lead work group to complete objectives in design of maintenance of products, processes, components, and systems.

Continuous & Effective collaboration with Global design teams, suppliers, team members, and other business units

Mentor and coach work group. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Having minimum of 7 years’ experience in manufacturing facilities or industries.
• Having at least 2 years of project leadership or supervisory role.

Desired Qualifications:

• Having experience or knowledge in Advanced Product Quality Planning, LCP (Low Cost Producer), end of line testing, and CPI or PPRD (Pre-Production Reliability Development)
• Hydraulic or Electrical experience.
• Structural/Fabrication/Weld experience
• Relocation is available for this position.
